Damp Proofing

Plumber got water on my damp proof membrane in the subfloor. Is it ruined?

Anonymous user 28/02/2024 - 3.23 PM

I'm in a ground floor Glasgow tenement. The solum under my bedroom has had a damp proof membrane fitted and there's about a ton of sand on top of it weighing down the membrane (maybe 20 cm deep). When the plumber installed my new radiator, some water spilled out onto the sand and now there's a large (maybe 1.5 x 1.5 metre) patch of muddy sand under the pipe. It hasn't dried in a week and looks like it might be spreading (there are no leaks, I checked). Is this going to be a problem? Is the damp proofing ruined? Is here anything I can or should do? It's technically under warranty but I don't want to call the damp proofing company because it's not a fault in the course. Thanks!

Hi jonbca the damp proof membrane isn't ruined nor will it be damaged. If your worried install a dehumidifier for a week or until the wet patch has gone. If it returns you know you have a problem somewhere. tommy
