Gas Works

Exposed gas service feed pipe to house and driveway construction - alteration required.

Anonymous user 01/03/2024 - 2.54 PM

Hi. I have dug down on the lawn at the front of the house to lower the level to install a gravel driveway. I have dug down approx. 300mm. I then exposed the gas service feed pipe to my individual house, which feeds into the gas metre. Due to the surrounding levels this pipe is now above the to be finished ground level. Reading regulation, it is suggested that a private pipe is 375mm below finished ground level. My question is who can alter the depth of the gas pipe on the meter - mains side (NOT the side after the house metre where it could be easily turned off here)? Could a car then drive over the pipe as it is across the access - guess dependent on finish? I have photo's and if there is anyone here who may welcome looking at the work please let me know. Based in Northwich, Cheshire. Many Thanks
