Hi I have been out of the bricklaying game for around 4 years and would love to get back into it, problem is I have no idea which is the best way in doing so? Any ideas would be much appreciated! Sam

I would give your local contractors a call and explain you’ve been out of action for a while and maybe they will stick you in a gang where you can build your confidence and progress your way up to running your own gang.

Hi there.
Id suggest you try find a small firm/building company to work with.
Hourly rate etc to get yourself back into the swing of things.
Building sites are ok aswell but as you may know most of these sites are based on price work and if your not upto speed you wont make much money.
Your local council might be looking for builders etc. Could be an option.

I would suggest ringing around the agencies in your area to get back into the swing of things. Bare in mind you will definitely need your own tools a way of transport and probably a UTR number.

The best place to look first will be bricklaying forums for you area, see if any gangs are looking for extra hands. Also internet sights such as gumtree etc you’ll find adverts for wanted brickys, then there construction agency’s and bricklaying contractors.... failing that you can always do it the old fashioned way n pop into a few on going or developing sites With your business card a speak to a site agent.

Hi Sam, jump out on site ask the foreman to lower your rate for a couple of weeks until you get back in to it. Then you will be flying. 😊

Mybuilder would be ideal get a couple of Jobs build your confidence up go at the pace you feel comfortable with. Site's all price work, so unless you've got a decent and understanding bunch of lads, they'd Just want quantity and as you've been out for 4 years you'd be a slightly slower pace and out of practise. Have a good ring around explain the situation and you might have the break you want. All the best of luck of whatever you decide

There’s so many bricklaying forums on social media, like Facebook etc where you can build up contacts and engage with fellow bricklayers.
Just generally being proactive will easily find yourself back in the trade.
Good luck!

I would suggest calling some local firms in your local area to see if they are willing to take
you on, explain your situation or alternatively contact some agencies to see if they could help at all.
