I want to remove a built in cabinet which is surrounded by Artex. Is it safe?

Anonymous user 09/03/2024 - 2.43 PM

I am about to buy a flat which has sloped ceilings which are covered in Artex which I'm planning to have plastered over. There is also a built in cabinet I want to have removed. Is it safe to remove the cabinet or is there a danger of the Artex being disturbed which might contain Asbestos. The flat is in an old Victorian house and I don't know when the Artex was put in. Here is a picture so you can get a better idea of what I mean. Any help and info would be very appreciated. Thanks! https://s18.postimg.org/ys4xqa9gp/image.jpg

Before you do anything I would suggest getting the artex checked for asbestos. You can buy a kit online for around £40, you send off a sample and they will test it for asbestos

Artex has minimal asbestos in, if in doubt a good dust mask and careful handling will limit the spread 👍🏼👍🏼
