Dents in wall after painting
Anonymous user 23/02/2024 - 3.04 PM
Not sure if anyone can help me, I removed some wallpaper off a wall, there was a thin layer of paint underneath it and then underneah that the plaster, there were some chipping of the old paint so scraped these off sanded down and had a smooth finish since painting you can now see the patches with now look more like shallow dents in the wall what are the options to fix this?
Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

Sounds like the wall needs more preparation. You could fill and sand the walls or have them re-plastered. A good lining paper could cure the issue.

Hello, these jobs often grow a !! Re scimming would sort it ( that's basically apply 2-5 mm of a finish Plaster over the top) would be a nice base to paint!

applying a thin layer of plaster to skim the walls should sort the dents out or you could prep the walls again by sanding to a smooth finish but always remember to apply PVA bonding to plastered walls- (which is PVA mixed with water) and allow to dry before painting so that the paint does not react with the plaster this will allow the paint to dry properly onto the wall and create a good finish.

All of the answers are spot on Anne probably the issue is time and money, it maybe easier to get a skilled plasterer to come and skim walls standard room 1 day let it dry 4 days naturally then apply a undercoat or mis-coat then your normal 2 top finishing coatings. Then you will have a perfect room.
