DIY bathroom boiler cupboard

Anonymous user 23/02/2024 - 3.04 PM

Hi, I'm looking for advice on building a corner cupboard (approx 2.4m high and 1m wide) to house a combo-boiler and pipes in my bathroom. I've looked around the internet but can't seem to find any standard recommendations on types of wood to use for battens, panels or doors? Should I use 50mm x 50mm PSE or 25x50mm roof battens? Marine plywood, or furniture panels? Make or buy doors? Any advice, pros and cons would be most appreciated, from type of wood to use to size of battens, recommended panel thickness, appropriate screw types and sizes, and best outlets to purchase required materials. Many thanks!

Hi, Personally I would build a stud frame out of 3x2 cls and clad it with plasterboard and leave a adequate access hatch for the boiler to be serviced ect.. or build a stud with a door linging and a 2ft door..
