If its an original old sash window the pane can be replaced by most glazing companies who can take the pane out and replace - be aware old sash window can have 2mm thick glass , new float glass is generally 4mm ) although some glaziers can supply 3mm) 4mm glass can look out of place in a fine frame and add extra weight to the sash if its a large pane. Hi Most glasses can be replaced if cracked. But how easy or difficult is it depends upon the profile material (timber/aluminium/upvc) and the position of the beading (external/internal/recessed). Its better to use a toughened or laminated glass while replacing which will reduce manifold the chance of future cracks at the same place if its vulnerable to impact. Hope this is useful. Thanks.
