How can we improve the hot water pressure in a bungalow.

Anonymous user 23/02/2024 - 3.04 PM

We have a boiler in the garage which supplies hot water for the taps and central heating. All the water tanks are in the attic of our bungalow. We had a bathroom ensuite built with shower and wash hand basin and the existing bathroom modernised. The ensuite is a long way from the garage and we have to run the hot tap for a long time to clear the pipework. Recently the flow from the shower has decreased. All the taps and showers are for a high pressure system. One plumber has suggested fitting a pump and another a pressurised tank in the loft , vented through the roof? What would you recommend to solve the problem?

I would advising using a pump. It is the cheaper alternative and will provide you with enough flow for your en-suite. This will not reduce the time it will take for the hot water to reach this bathroom. Easiest way to make a slight improvement to the is to ensure your hot pipework is fully insulated in decent thickness lagging.
