Can I reinstate a blocked up Victorian fire

Anonymous user 28/02/2024 - 3.22 PM

We are buying a Victorian terrace that has large fireplaces in the front room and dining room and in the 2 main bedrooms upstairs also. They look like they've been concreted up. The fireplace surrounds and hearths are still in place but the fires are not functional. The chimney stack is still there. We would like to restore these to open log fires - how do we go about this? What tradesmen would we need? Thanks in advance!

My thoughts are that the existing flues would need to be lined or at least smoked tested. You should contact a HETAS registered installer for further advise
