Hairline cracks on ceramic tiles

Anonymous user 23/02/2024 - 3.04 PM

Hello, we have done a number of bathroom installations and the same issue has come up 3 times now and i cant understand why and am looking for advice. We have installed hundreds of bathrooms but recently we have encountered an issue with the last 3 bathrooms, on the walls there have appear hairline cracks on the ceramic tiles. The walls are both partitions and solid wall. Adhesive is from tile depot slow flexible adhesive Tiles are different but are all ceramic, we have not had any issues with porcelain or stone but it only appears on the ceramic and whilst i blame the first crack on the product and the customer got a full replacement and refund from top-tiles the other 2 show me that it is something more than a cheap product and i am wondering if it is something we are doing wrong or not using, any advice would be appreciated

Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

If it's a crazed type cracking it possible the fixer has dot and dabbed the adhesive rather than solid bed fixing, if it's straight cracks probably bad substance prep

If tiles are cracking, its one of two things either problem with walls (movement) or just bad fixing.
