painting on lining paper

Anonymous user 15/03/2024 - 2.32 PM

i have recently had my old victorian house re-skimmed from top to bottom. i have put lining paper on all the walls and now would like to paint the walls. I am hoping to use 1-2 coats of deluxe matt endurance paint. My Q is will I get a better finish if I was to first apply a diluted 50-50 mixture of cheap white emulsion onto the lining paper before i use the deluxe paint?

Hello, you don't need to put a 50/50 mix on the wall because the linning paper doesn't absorb nearly as much moisture as the bare plaster would. Just apply 2 coats of dulux endurance paint straight out of the tin without thinning it out. (stir paint before use)

no need to put a thin coat on as previous answer, however it may be beneficial to fill up the seams and lightly rub down prior to painting and get a better seamless finish
