Does orientation of shower mixer valve matter ?

Hi, I plan to install a concealed three way thermostatic mixer valve to service a main shower, bath and smaller hand held shower. Nearly all mixers have the three taps/valves arranged vertically. Is there any issue/ problem with functionality if I install it horizontally ? Thanks

Install it as per manufacturers instructions I would, the icons on the face plate will not look right at least. Cant see it being a problem if you did install it horizontally though.
