Plumbing

our water is way to hot

Anonymous user 09/03/2024 - 2.42 PM

Hi, I wonder if anyone would give me advice. I think I know the answer but just to check with professionals. When we instaled the new pipes for shower there was a mix up with hot and cold pipes. So we had to connect shower thermostat other way round.cold to hot and hot to cold. I thought that it would work just fine and thermostat would regulate temp. but from the shower is coming out super hot water. We have combi boiler and I set water temp to min, but it is still going increadibly hot.and it seems whatever seting thermostat is on still super hot watter. And boiler reacts (starts) only if I open thermostay fully. Is there anything I can do to fix it? any questions please ask. Thank you in advance

First investigate the that you have equal cold & hot water pressures. If the cold water is tank fed and the hot is fed directly from the combi boiler this may explain the higher temperature. As there is not enough cold water flow rate to keep the shower water at the desired level! Easy way to tell. throttle mixer shower valve to the lowest temperature then note the flow rate, if its poor then the cold water feed will probably be cold water storage tank fed. If so you will then have to modify the pipework so that the cold water feed to the shower mixer valve is fed directly from the mains cold water service!
