Painting walls after electrician
Anonymous user 28/02/2024 - 3.22 PM
I had an electrician make channels in my wall to put in new sockets. Our wall is currently lined with paper. There are channels about 10cm wide across the wall and he has filled in the spaces with plaster so it is fairly flat. Can I just paint over the new plaster? Do I need to re-do the paper for the whole wall? I have no idea what to do! I just want it to look neat for a year as we're going to take the paper down and re-do the walls completely at a later date. Thanks!

The Texture of the paper will always look different
You need to remove all the paper to just that wall
Sand down plaster and fine fill the joint
Then re-paper the whole wall again for the Best Result

If you require a temporary measure until you strip paper at a later date, then sand any jagged edges of the paper down, then on top of the existing plaster patching apply 2 coats of Gyproc easy fill, it's a 2 coat system which dries in a couple of hours and can be purchased from major did stores in 5 and 10 kg bags. Remember to lightly rub down between coats and feather in to existing wall area when filling complete.
