4 people, 2 bedroom flat, 2 showers - 33kw Combi or Megaflo?

Anonymous user 23/02/2024 - 3.04 PM

Hello, Have a 2 bedroom flat. 4 of us live here. 2 showers. Current small water tank and 30+ years old boiler not sufficient (run out of hot water too quickly). Question: 33kw combi-boiler (as 2 people could be showering at the same time), or new conventional boiler with 125litre megaflo. Most important consideration for me: a good shower, with good flow - priority when 1 shower being used, but has to be able to support 2 showers at once (though, flow not important then...) and be capable of 4 people showering in semi-close proximity (current tank runs out of hot water half way through second shower, and takes c.45mins before hot again...). Mains water pressure 2.5bar, 12-15 litres per minute. Second water supply from water tank at top of block, water pressure 1.5 bar, 30 litres per minute. My thoughts: 33kw combi to supply sufficient hot water for 2 showers. A plumber has suggested a megaflo as an alternative. Thank you, James.

Sounds like your hot water cylinder and possibly the cwsc isnt big enough. Whatever combi you get more than likely wont handle 2 showers, id look replacing your current cwsc and hot water cylinder for bigger ones or a megaflow, though you need to have a 22mm supply to the inlet for sufficient flow rate.
