Can you recommend a coating for quartz floor tiles please?

Anonymous user 15/03/2024 - 2.32 PM

I have black midnight quartz floor tiles in my kitchen. They are very difficult to keep clean. I do not use any cleaning product on the floor (I use a steam cleaner instead) and I use a floor polisher to buff the tiles. However, even walking across the floor when not wearing shoes creates footprints. It is like having a mirror on the floor. There must be a product that coats the floor as I have seen the tiles in department stores where there is a lot of foot traffic. I have contacted the company who sold me the floor but they cannot recommend a product to prevent this. Can you please recommend something?

Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

Hi Ruth, I can't offer any assistance with the footprint issue, but i would advise not to steam clean too often as it could degregate the grout. Also quartz is not overly keen on absorbing moisture to, it can cause the tiles to curl or swell. It may be that the floor polisher is what the imprints are actually being left in. Try just a regular mop over when needed and use a swiffer (to remove any watermarks when dry) instead of polish & buff to leave the surface in its natural state.
