registered electrician withdraw after first fix, what can i do?
Anonymous user 15/03/2024 - 2.32 PM
i hire this electrician to complete a rewiring for my property, he's finished first fix ( i paid him half of the money) , but he's now refuse to return to complete the job, i think he has too many other job offers, he asked me to get someone else to finish off his work. my question is will other electrician take on an existing project? he has not provided any paper work to show how he has arrange the wiring. he is NICEIC approved and part p qualified, is there anywhere i can complaint about this electrician? please advise what i can do next. many thanks

Hello
Question one - will other electricians take on this project - yes there will be other electricians who will take on this project but there will also be electricans who will be very iffy about taking on such job, because there are some bad qualified electricians who have managed to obtain registration with NICEIC and NAPIT and it may have to be pulled out and started again if wiring is incorrectly installed.
Question two - where can you complain - if the electrician is registered with the NICEIC or NAPIT you could give them a call and express your thoughts as either scheme had assessed the individual to be competant enough to be accedited.
I hope this helps, all the best

If he is NICEIC registered, and I say if! They like my part p provider do an insurance scheme whereby if the electrician can't/won't come back for whatever reason they will sort it. Ring them and find out. Look also on the register of competant electricians online to see if he is indeed registered. Agree with the answer above though a lot of 5 week wonders around, and if you want to persue another person taking responsibility for someone else's work etc you are going to have problems. I certainly won't do it as I'm signing off someone else's work.
