Timber Sizes for 6m x 5m Garage

Anonymous user 09/03/2024 - 2.41 PM

Hi, If anyone could help I would be very grateful. I'm not sure of the best size timbers to use for the ridge board and the cut rafters. Also would the rafters be better at 400mm centres ? The new build is a 6m long by 5m wide Garage. The ridge running down the 6m run.The pitch will be 30 degrees.Any Information would be greatly received. Thanks a lot, Bambi.

Hi bambi, My advice would be depending on what you would be putting on the top of the timbers whether it would be slates or a concrete based tile. If so i would use a 6 x 2 c16 timber 400mm on centres with bridging timbers in the voids of the rafters every 1200mm just for extra stability, and just an 7 x 1 or 8x1 for the ridge board and you should have no trouble with that.
