How do I check fence is safe?
Anonymous user 28/02/2024 - 3.22 PM
We had fencing, 3 concrete posts and 2 gravel boards put in but I'm not convinced that they were installed correctly. I worry about the heavy concrete falling on a child. Is there any way of checking that it is safe?

Evening Mrs F, the required depth the posts should be in the ground is typically between 600-900mm (2-3ft), if these were put in at this depth and then set in place into the ground with concrete then I would not worry, you will be able to pull and push against a post which is correctly set into the ground without any movement at all. Another option is to check there current levelling position and re check there position after a couple of days-weeks to see if they have moved. Hope this has re assured you. Adam

All fence posts should be placed into the ground at least two feet deep. And should be set in with either post Crete or the right gauge of concrete. If the post was placed in the recommended depth and you can't see any visual movement around the bottom of the post. I would advise you to check for a air line crack in the post hope this helps regards Jesse
