Possible soakaway, new guttering and boiler overflow.

I have a mid terrace house without any down pipes. The intention is the water runs down the row from house to house and drains at the end. however it's constantly overflowing and dripping on us and has caused some damp in the wall between ours and our neighbours property. I would like a down pipe fitted to take some of this water away and reduce the risk of overflow. The house currently has a gravelled area between the drive and the house presumably for drainage. We also have a vertical plastic pipe sunk into the gravelled area and concreted bin, which is of downpipe size. Currently it's used for the boiler overflow. This pipe seems to have a fixed level of water in it, which implies to me that it is a soak away which sits at ground water level. I poured hose water into it and it filled up then drained away. Can I fix a new downpipe to this vertical possible soakaway?

If the water is draining away then i dont see why not. This would obviously depend on how long the water you poured in took to drain away as in heavy downpours this may not be a solution.

You can in reality cut in a down pipe in any gutter run and fall accordingly, it all depends if you are happy with the positon of the down pipe and the fact that the water may or may not drain away at the point you wish to have this located. On the boiler overflow I strongly recommend you do not have this going into any down pipe, we have had cases where the drain has blocked underground and backed up and flooded the boiler in the property.
