CATNIC v Universal Beam

Anonymous user 28/02/2024 - 3.22 PM

Passed plans for single storey extn - with steel calcs done - specify CATNIC BHD100 x 3600 LG / 2400 LG (for the 2 structural opening up) and CATNIC CG90/100 x 2700LG / 2100 LG (for new openings ie patio door /window). One builder has quoted for two beams for each structural opening - Universal Beam 203 x 133 x 25kg per m and CATNIC LINTEL CG 90/100 2.7m / 2.1m for the new openings which seems consistent. However, worried about Universal Beam quoted v CATNIC specified. Help, please.

if it is specified for ctinic lintel on the drawing you must install catnic as you don't have the specification from a engineer this is a problem when it comes to building standards they wont singe the building warrant of without the spec

Best to get clarification from the structural engineer for this, although the catnic if heavy duty should be adequate if the builder has used a steel then he should insulated it also for thermal conductivity.
