Electrical

Not sure what the fault is. Would like some advice please

My electric single oven stopped working. When turn on it would trip switch. The electric timer would still be displayed, just oven would not light up or heat up. I tried all usual stuff, fuse, plug sockets etc. I thought the oven had broken so bought another one anday same thing is happening. I can plug into any socket and timer is displayed but no power for the oven. I have tested the sockets behind the oven and both work fine. Q, Should the oven still come on if plugged into any socket in home or does it have to be one in the oven housing. Q, is the isolator switch connected to both sockets in the housing unit and could it be isolated switch. Thank you

If not the element, check behind the oven where the cord is, open the back and you will see the live/neutral/earth from the oven side, could be damaged wire.

Hi, This seems like a oven element problem. From what you have described the oven has power and the time/date are displayed correct? When you try and turn on the oven to cook food it trips the power off? Give a electrician a call and get a free quote. They'l be able to tell in minutes if there familiar with cooker repairs. Replacing the element is not expensive. Your probably looking at a £40 fee to fit the element and £20 for the replacement part.
