Can I double up 6mm No More Ply to reduce deflection
Anonymous user 09/03/2024 - 2.41 PM
Having screwed down original floorboards and installed 6mm No More Ply over the top there is still some deflection in the floor that will likely crack the grout if not the tiles. Can I reduce the deflection by adding another layer of 6mm No More Ply?..Or Will BAL Single part fastflex + flexible grout with additive be enough to reduce the effect of the deflection...or a combination of both? UPDATE - Danced around bathroom with full glass of water in centre of room and none spilled - I weigh upwards of 16 stone - but there is definitely a small amount of deflection in two parts of the room. Tiler who came round earlier seemed to think it unacceptable level of deflection and recommended stripping back floor and laying 16mm minimum ply - expensive option bearing in mind NMP layed with mega strength NMP adhesive - OR use super flexible BAL adhesive and flexible grout with a elasticizing additive - cheaper option.
