Plastering & Rendering

When best to render back of house

Anonymous user 01/03/2024 - 2.54 PM

We're currently doing a loft conversion and seeing that the scaffolding is up already are considering getting rid of ugly pebbledash on front and back of our property (note pebbledash is on first floor only, ground floor has white render). Whilst it's best to do the front of house now I'm not so sure about the back as we are likely to do a ground floor extension at some point (5-10 years from now). Considering all the work that will be required as part of the extension would it be best to wait and render the first floor then? On a different note, I've read that one shouldn't render over existing pebbledash but the guys I had come round to provide quotes so far all said we could do so front of house but not back.

Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

scaffold probably not set up at required distance for roughcast/pebbledash and if any boas roughcast/pebbledash it must come off

I would recommend early spring onwards when the weather temperatures rise and no frost
