Sealing , pointing & staining sawn honed sandstone

Anonymous user 09/03/2024 - 2.41 PM

I had a landscaping company lay sawn honed raj green sandstone in my new garden last year, the pointing is already coming off in certain areas and when sealing the sandstone it rained the very day not long afterwards I contacted the installer to let him know and that there is lots of staining of the sandstone he said it will go away - now the stone is faded, with white staining - paid a lot for something that really no longer looks good - how long does sealer last - please tell me what we can do about the staining -and pointing. Supplier says his workmanship has 10 guarantee but he said he would come around but has not- the staining is from the rain on the sealer

Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

the pointings probably coming out due to it not being compacted into the joint thoroughly enough wich will cause viods underneath it and eventually fail and the staining is probably due to the pointing mortar being far to wet when used , hopfully they pointed it after they laid it and not as they laid it using the same muck .........or are you saying that its stained from the rain on the sealer ?
