New home stained roof timbers?
Anonymous user 28/02/2024 - 3.21 PM
Hello I am in the process of buying a flat which is on the upper level of an old stone cottage. The home report identifies some staining on the roof timbers which can be seen through the small skylight to the attic. Nothing noted on walls or ceilings within the property. Can someone tell me if this should be a worry? When someone mentions roof repairs the immediate thought is very expensive!....is this generally true? Thanks in advance!

if there are water marks then there is water getting in somewhere, just might not be to excessive for the time being, but defiantly needs checking out s through time the timbers will tend to rot and then the fix becomes more expensive as you will be needing new timbers, if its coming from the skylight then could just need a seal as through weather seals do tend to corrode and get week which struggles for them to do there job, hope you have peace of mind off this and most companies in our days quote free so pick up the phone to a few of them and see what they recommend and cost advice should also be free of charge without any strings,
