It depends on the condition of the plasterboards. sometimes these dont get to much damage. if this is the case. strip back any wallpaper so back down to ceiling. rub down coat with dulux stain block. then fill and paint as required. but if plasterboards are damaged they might need replacing first yours john rimmer jpr decorating specialist

It is generally a waste of time trying to repair paper it will always show a defect also the plaster surface could be damaged.. the safe bet is strip all the paper make sure the surfaces are totally dry and repaper Regards Lionel Keith

strip off the all the paper, make sure the plaster is not damaged or plaster boards, make sure is has dried before repapering or painting. if its really bad you may have to use a stain block before hand also. Thanks Adam

Hi i have had a few of these and the only way to deal with them is to strip wallpaper and remove all wet or damaged plaser board, "why" well when it dries it either smells or dries out of shape causing buckling and cist like lumps, so remove replace, if you can not afford this then strip let dry assist with heat fan etc then use Zinsser cover stain before re-coating with paint of your choice, if your going to re wallpaper use Zinsser Gardz which will make your celin good for wallpapering. all the best Chris www.zinsser.co.uk
