Skirting Board has recently bowing out in bathroom but no trace of leaks

Anonymous user 28/02/2024 - 3.21 PM

Hi, our bathroom skirting board has recently started bowing out and the wall paper above has been coming away from the wall. The bedroom is situated behind the wall and we do not know whether to call out a plumber to do a trace and access. There are no other signs of any leakage. The property is a flat newly built in 2013. We can provide pictures if required. Is this an unusual case?

If there are no leaks close to the skirting or regular floor flooding from bathroom use then your bowed skirting is down to the moisture in the air particles, which is a natural phenomenon in a bathroom. Your skirting is likely to be untreated wood. You are best advised to replace your skirting on the length that has bowed and treat all your skirting and paint accordingly.
