Anonymous user 28/02/2024 - 3.21 PM
Is it safe to locate a bath/shower pump under a bath enclosed by the bath panels. I have been given different answers by plumbers and one firm said they would not do this job ? Many Thanks Simon

As I plumber I see shower pumps under baths occasionally, as with anything check the manufacturer's instructions under installation and it will give you zones it can installed. As long as the pump is residual-current device (RCD) protected at the meter and your bath panel is on a secure so you can't touch pump, and the manufacturer's instructions say it's o.k then i don't see a problem, as electric showers have 230v feeding it, protected by a r.c.d. Appliances in bathrooms are rated by a water resistance number IPX4 or 5 number so check that in the manual and where it can be installed.

You are asking if it is safe to install a 230 volt appliance underneath your bath?
I would respectfully suggest you seek advice from a qualified electrician who can advise you a the current regulations (PART P) relating to this intended works, or move this post to the electrical forum!
