Anonymous user 28/02/2024 - 3.21 PM

Hi, was wondering if my white/discoloured upvc front door can be painted ? If so, what paint would i need ? And what are the chance's of the paint peeling off please ?

Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

Good morning, Start by making sure the door is clean and given a good wipe down to remove and debris or oils from the surface. Then give it a light rub down to give it a bit of a "key" this help the paint stick. To give it the best chance of not peeling i would suggest a PVC Primer then a PVC gloss or paint. Or you could use a etching based primer and then coat in gloss depending on effect.

a good clean with sugar soap, then rub down with 120 grade sandpaper. a upvc primer followed by 2 coats of a top quality satin or gloss paint especially for exterior pvc surfaces. oil based would be best if available, but most seem to be wated based.

I am a UPVC specialist so your in good hands, both these tradesmen are correct. Visit a local upvc centre or any outlet such as wicks; and look for solvent cleaner for UPVC, this should bring it right up as I do these jobs on the regular! GOOD LUCK! West kent Fences and Fascias.
