Roof lantern or pitched fiberglass roof with Windows??
Anonymous user 23/02/2024 - 3.03 PM
Hi, we have a 1930s house with a wide, narrow flat roofed extension to the rear. It's 9m wide and 4m deep. It's brick built, with full width patio doors onto a south East facing arden. It's current flat roof is more than ready for replacing, but we don't know if we should got for a flat roof with a 5m x 1m+ roof lantern, or get a low pitched fibreglass roof with two or three roof lights. We haven't gone enough room for a tiled pitch, which we would love, and we also need to get light into the other two living rooms that feed off the extension. The house has red roof tiles, St Annes smooth brick and cream render. Any suggestions, hints, tips please would be greatly appreciated. If anyone has any quirky, or slightly different ideas to the norm then even better!! We had a pitch put on our last extension, with a vaulted roof and window lights and we absolutely loved it. One worry/concern is rain noise, plus we have a lot of wildlife so there are always birds/squirrels running across it. The last thing I want is a roof lantern which the birds are going to congregate on.
