re-fitting stairs carpet after decorating work done in hallway

Anonymous user 09/03/2024 - 2.40 PM

Hi there, we have a carpet runner on our stairs which we would ideally like to keep, but we are having some decorating done in the hallway at the moment (including repainting the stairs), so are thinking it might have to come off so that it doesn't get covered in paint and also so we can actually reach the stairs underneath properly. Would it be possible to re-lay the same carpet back in the same place once the work is done? Or will a new carpet runner need to be purchased and fitted? The carpet runs down the middle of the stairs, doesn't cover the whole stair, and has foamy stuff behind it. Andy advice or pearls of wisdom would be very much appreciated! Thanks so much. Jessica

no problem the carpet should be uplifted .remove staples with small lever or screwdriver refitting should be straight forward as long as carpet is in a reasonable condition

this would be a straight forward job to uplift the carpet and relay once the decorating has been completed and i would strongly advise on having new underlay fitted.
