Need to drain water cylinder

Anonymous user 28/02/2024 - 3.21 PM

My water cylinder cold water shut of valve is rusted and stiff, will i brake the rubber seal inside it if i put wd40 on it and loosen it off? I'm wanting to drain the tank so i can do my bathroom snd tried switching off the mains and letting it run bit its taking forever. Any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks

wd40 won't usually do anything as the seal/threads are inside the valve which are water proof so won't get to it. Best thing to do is just replace the gate valve before you do the bathroom. woulad reccomend getting a professional do this as it can be a pain sometimes

Hi Ryan, it is possible to plug the cold feed and bung the expansion pipe but I’d honestly call a professional if your at that stage. The only other option is to turn the mains off and drain the system
