Driveways & Paving

tarmac planings or Type 1 for block paving sub base.

Anonymous user 09/03/2024 - 2.40 PM

Hi I need a driveway done pretty quickly so thinking of getting it dug out and the base put down so i can park on it and put skips on it. I dont want to block pave it just yet as the rest of the house needs renovating and done want to wreck it. A groundworks guys said he will dig out and lay the base for a good price, he mentioned i could save money with Tarmc Planings instead of Type 1. Is this advisable or will it cause a problem when i come to block pave?

Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

Hi its a common issue these days the crushed Tarmac 20 ml to dust is actually being passed by majority of recycled yards As type 1 due compaction however it's like a vauxhall and a Mercedes if your willing to pay for the proper quarry type 1 it will be longer lasting Use a good membrane laid first Minimum of 250 ml of stone Ideally machine rolled in It should serve you rightly for years to come

Use type 1 mot, it will compact much tighter and give you a solid sub base.
