Height of new patio

Anonymous user 09/03/2024 - 2.40 PM

In the process of our garden landscaped, new turf, beds, a very old conservatory knocked down along with a new patio and additional drainage. Concerned that the patio is being built on top of some of the old patio and the height of the patio. It's very close to the height of the back door and the patio Windows. It's about 100mm from damp proof course. When questioning them about it they seemed to not understand the issue or the concern as its slightly sloping away from the house and on a slope so water should run down to a drain that is at a right angle to the side of the house next to the patio. Should I be concerned and what should I do about it?

A patio should be two bricks below the damp proof if its against the house so 100mm sounds about right.

The patio should be two courses of bricks below the DPC (damp proof course) -150mm to stop the rain water splashing off the slabs and onto the wall even if the patio has a fall from the house,i would also put a gravel trap between the patio and the house for extra drainage.
