hi, quick question, if i use 2x4 which are 5mts long for my shed roof, can i use mini joist hangers to attach them? i will be using 18mm osb3 sheets on top covered in felt(flat roof). ive purchased 47mm x 67mm mini joist hangers from toolstation but they were unable to give any advice and i dont want the weight of the osb to make them give way overtime. thanks

Hi there, the 47mm x 67mm mini joist hangers are no issue if they are put in an accurate and stable manner.
However the timber sizes you have opted for will prove to be an issue. This is due to the fact that the timber is 5mts long. The fact that they are 2x4 will mean that the timber will become curved within 2 years from the weight. My advice for you if you wish to preserve the life longevity of the timber is to place 2x5 MINIMUM and MAXIMUM 2x6.
I hope this helps!

Yes 4x2 over a span of 5lm without additional support say at mid point is a weak roof; I agree with the above on increasing the size of the joists and remember to strap your flat roof down as per Approved Document A of Building Regs.
