chnage from gravity boiler to combi in top floor period conversion

Anonymous user 15/03/2024 - 2.32 PM

Hello, I live in a top floor (3rd floor) conversion. The property is quite old. I currently have a very old conventional boiler and cylinder with tank etc in loft. They have been in the property for a number of years. I am looking to update the boiler - in terms of my flat being 2 bedroomed, with one bathroom is it feasible that I can have a combination boiler and if so what type of work would this entail? I am thinking in terms of relocating the boiler to the loft space and operating it by smart - I assume that there are legislation requirements that for this - also do I need a condensing pipe fitted now that I will have a modern boiler? The reason I am relocating boiler to loft is that I need all the space I can create in my kitchen.

Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

Hi trac, yes you will need a condensing pipe and pressure relief overflow pipe win the combi which isn't the end of the world. Moving it into the loft is a viable option as there room sealed. it isn't a big problem there are obviously regs to comply to that your professional plumber who comes to give you a quote will fill you in on like flue termination/positioning etc which may have an effect on where the boiler is placed, the main question you should probably address would be do i have enough water pressure for a combi boiler installation? (being three/four stories up) Again the plumber will check this out and advise on what would be best as he comes to quote. Hope this helps. LMS Plumbing And Heating.
