Damp Proofing

Converted basement into kitchen showing signs of damp

Anonymous user 09/03/2024 - 2.40 PM

Hi all, I would like some advice on damp in my kitchen. I had a damp surveyor come out and suggested that the whole kitchen should be scrapped and re-designed properly with pumps etc but the quote was very expensive. I would appreciate if anyone can offer any other solutions. Many thanks

Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

Sorry to say....he was right....always basement give u that dampness..unless its done right with sump pump ,waterproofed walls on metal studs insulation damp membrane and green plasterboard.Even than after some years u will still have some ...in the mean time i would keep a dehumidifier(powerful one)to absorb the moisture.U will be surprised how much water will get.
