Kitchen Fitting

Relocating kitchen to dining room & then converting former kitchen into utility room & small w/c

Anonymous user 09/03/2024 - 2.40 PM

Hello, I'm currently looking to buy an end of terrace house that has a very narrow kitchen. The house has the usual terrace layout of lounge at the front, dining room and finally the narrow kitchen. I was wondering how potentially difficult it could be to turn the dining room into a kitchen diner and then have the former kitchen as a utility room and possibly add a small w/c room? (Dishwasher and washing machine would be kept in the utility room.) The house is an end of terrace house so the oven and kitchen sink would be against the outside wall. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks :)

This shouldn’t be a problem for you really, you just need to keep a few things in mind when planning something like this. 1. Would need to rewire the dining room bringing it onto the kitchen circuit (might involve new wiring from the fuse board to new kitchen location adding more costs) 2. Would the waste from kitchen sink reach the soil stack or is there a manhole near by? 3. Would the new toilet location be close to the soil stack or is there a manhole near by? 4. Would advice you might need to replace doors in dining room with fire doors if not already got them installed. Good luck

this would not be much of a problem to carry out these works obviously you would need to make sure that when moving the kitchen you can get the waste to a drain and with the toilet as long as you can get access to the waste stack should cause no problems
