Hi, we are renovating our kitchen and want to open the chimney breast to accommodate a gas or electric hob. My builder said this may not be possible as we have a gas fire in the lounge. He is sending a gas engineer round to have a look but would like some advice

If ur gas fire is connected and working to the same chimney breast as you want to open up to accommodate a hob then I'm afraid it's a no no.obviosly fumes from the fire would be vented into your kitchen a definite no no.
