Changing a single skin wall to double skin.

Hi, I am sorry if this has already been asked. We are looking to purchase a house. The house is a Victorian semi detached. It has an extension which forms part of the original house. Our mortgage was declined because the valuer was not satisfied with the extension walls. He said the walls were single skin. There is a box room upstairs and utility downstairs. He has also recommended only way to have it resolved is outer wall build. Would the whole thing need to come down and be rebuilt? The rooms are about 3m by 3m.
Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

We have come across this issue a few times in the past, and have remadied this by building a stud partition inside the room. The wall needs to have adequate clearence from the outside skin (typicaly around 50mm). 100mm studs would be enough and then 100mm celotex or similar, but you would need to check with your local building authority. Sometimes a breathable vapour barrier is also required. I hope this helps.
