New Render To House 2 months Old Already Cracking

Anonymous user 15/03/2024 - 2.32 PM

Hi all. We recently had our three bed house rendered. It's been pebble dashed on the main building. At the bottom and around the windows the plasterers used smooth cement. Already after two months there are 1,hairline cracks around the windows, 2,a large cracked hollow area about three feet long at the bottom of the house 3, the pebbledash has a long vertical crack up the side of the house. The company said that their work is guaranteed, but now that I've asked them to repair it they're being difficult. They won't set a date and keep making excuses. Spent my life savings on this! What can I do? Please if anyone knows any advice. Many thanks. Sarah

If your are not happy with the work get a third party to visit and write you a report of what is wrong with that you have had done then present the original workmen with the report and if they still brush it under the carpet I suggest you take the to the X alls claims court as they are not sticking to there guarantee and then you can send the baliffs to get some or all your money back.

Hi There are a number of reasons why render cracks the main one is if the renders was applied during bad weather conditions, if there was a froze during the drying process this will freeze the water in the mix and wont key to the wall and cause cracking. As you had your house rendered 2 months back (March/April) I guess there is a good chance of a froze during the night. Hope this helps
