can I do a side extension on my semi when my house is on a slope aprox 1m higher than the neighbors?

My semi house is aprox 1m maybe 1.5m higher than the neighbours. Both houses are fairly close to the boundary . We would like to do a side double story extension. Can you see any problems with planning?

It all depends how far the property's are apart, some councils want a meter between the extension and boundary and some let them build onto the boundary and you end up with a two inch gap between them. For a small fee you can meet planning and they will advise you on their policy's and let you know what can be done.
