Painting indoor furniture
Anonymous user 09/03/2024 - 2.39 PM
A friend of mine mentioned painting her bed and as she struggles with mobility,i offered to do it for her. However, the paint she bought,on advice apparently, was Dulux Trade Weathershield Exterior Flexible Undercoat and the Trade Exterior High Gloss. I haven't started the work yet as this doesn't sound at all right to me! Surely it's not a great idea to paint the area you sleep with paint made specifically for outdoors?
Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

No need to use weather shield paint for interior use, just use normal undercoat & gloss, the reason you use weather shield paint for exterior is that the paint is flexible, so it can take all kinds of weather, hope this helps

depending on the surface you will need the suitable primer and undercoat. for a bed i would recommend waterbased primer first then an oil undercoat. most surfaces can be sanded down first which i would recommend to give the primer something to soak in to. wiping down and dusting down inbetween coats i would then add the undercoat, and for a top coat finish use a gloss, satin or eggshell depending on your taste. if going white i would recommend acrylic based as it doesnt go yellow over time.
