Did the tiler quote before veiwing the work to be done, which is a mistake.I never quote I only estimate until seeing what work is to be done,I would then discuss with customers if they would like me to prepare which reflects on the price.it seems to me he has underpriced the work, ask him for the full price including everything that you expect him to do.

Some tilers will only tile, and won't do any preparation work. This is competely normal, however, this should have been made clear in the quote. When.he came to see the job, he should have made it clear of what preparation you or a third partly would have to complete before he is able to start. I would recommend using a building company. They will have a tiler on staff, but also other people who can complete the preparation work for you. In relation to the uneven floors more information is needed. If they are slightly uneven but overall flat on the level, this could be lost with the addisive, or a detree mat can be laid before tiling. If there is a fall in the floor, then for an even horizontal finish work might need to be carried out on the floor to resolve this issue. The tiler should have discussed all this with you when he can to price for the job

What he should of done is come to your house to measure up and then after he's measured he should then give you a quote including list of materials
