Modern toilet cistern letting in too much water

Anonymous user 09/03/2024 - 2.39 PM

When my toilet is flushed and the water comes up, too much water comes into the cistern and overflows into the toilet its self. It always stops after a certain amount of time. Any advise?

Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

Hi there. No clear answer from what you describe I'm afraid. Either the flush valve takes a while to re-seat itself properly and allows the flush to continue to run for a while as you mention. Or the inlet valve filling level is not set correctly for the internal overflow so excess water spills over in to the pan. I think you'll need to call in an expert to take a closer look I'm afraid.

The inlet valve needs to be set to allow the correct level of water before closing. How you do that depends on the make and model. If in doubt call a plumber Hope that helps Gary
