Preparing walls for painting after wall paper removal

Anonymous user 09/03/2024 - 2.39 PM

I have stripped all the old textured wallpaper from the walls. So walls are back to plaster. Now what do I need to do so I can paint? Do I fill holes and line walls then paint? Or fill holes and paint? No idea?

Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

Hello there, make sure you have washed down all the walls before painting to get the old wall paper paste that could be still on the walls off it will also stop anything from bleeding through your paint on the walls. Kind regards Chris

The walls will have to be filled either way. They have to be prepared before painting or papering.

If the pasted is nice and smooth still. Fill any holes and the sand the whole wall lightly for even finish. The use a watered down white paint as a base coat before painting with your desired colour. If the wall is not I great condition the lining paper would be the next option.
