What colour to use to recover

Hi I painted my fence last year came out orange colour I re painted this year rustic brown which says it's meant to be dark but isn't can you tell me how to get a dark brown fence please

Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

Never use the aftermarket fence stains !! they always look orange!! this also goes for cheap sheds and fence panel as far as im concerned!!! call me a snob hehe afraid youll have to treat it as any other wood work ... brown paint. fence treatments are usuall y transparent so the colour underneath shows through. maybe modern creosote might work good luck Dan Handful of Help

Hello to make your fencing dark oak.you can use creosoe substitute. (Not the old type the new non hazard type.) Most builders yards stock it and b and q. If you use the cheaper water based stainers the sort off bleed the old colours through .best use oils based . Hope this helps. Ps a lot of my farmer customers put a cup of old engine oil in the creosote before and mix it up But that's upto you.
