New Laminate flooring, very dusty all the time?

Anonymous user 09/03/2024 - 2.39 PM

Hi, We moved into a new house six weeks ago. The house is not an old house. We had new floor put down (Laminate) but not much else. Yet, everyday the floor is covered in thick black dust. I use the swiffer, mop and hoover everyday and it builds up almost straight away. We don't live in an industrial area and there is a field behind the house. We can't find any holes letting in the dust and we are at a loss to know what is causing it? We have one dog who doesn't shed much and no children. Is laminate usually like this? Would it be better to replace with Marmoleum, vinyl or cork? Please can you shed any light on this? Regards, Matt

hi , its not the floorings fault, the dust is coming from somewhere and any flooring you put down will show this. maybe as stated above there is soot coming from the chimney. carpets dont show this as much as they hide the dust in the pile but hardfloors will sit the dust on the surface making it easier to see and clean, thats why hospitals dont have carpets down.
