Halogen spot light not working
Anonymous user 15/03/2024 - 2.32 PM
Hi everyone. There are 3 halogen spot lights in my bathroom, but only the 2 work. Already replaced the bulb and the MR16 lamp holder on the spot light that does not work but I still get no result. What else could it be the problem? Thanks

Loose connection. Has to be. Turn off the electric. Start at the nearest spot that does work and trace the circuit all the way to the bulb checking all the connections on the way. If everything is wired from a single junction box then check that. The transformer may of gone but then you could of dislodged a wire when you took it out of the ceiling. Also potentially the lamp holder may of gone. You will need an MR16 lamp holder. Check the bulbs in the other downlights and also the new and old transformer to help the process of elimination if your still having no luck.
Good luck!

This is the problem with halogen. It may have been better to replace the whole fitting at the start before you bought all sorts of replacements. Saving you time, trouble and in the long run money. LED's are best. Just a thought, as for your problem could be loose connection, burnt out lamp holder, the cabling, they get really hot these fittings. So LED's are a win win situation every time.
